Easily one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. So warm and friendly and so attentive. These lovely ladies look at your face shape and everything else that goes along with the look and fit of eyewear then proceed to pull frames for you that they think you’ll like based on what you’re looking for and what will give you the best fit. They, themselves, have superb taste and offer honest opinions. All you have to do is sit there and try them all on! They also have some amazing eyewear that I just don’t see at any other shop around town. Truly a unique experience and I will go back for all my eyewear needs.

You will love this place or you won’t. I for one, am in the love category.
From having visited a few times now, I have figured-out the philosophy. The selection on display is meticulously chosen by Julia and purchasing from her is a partnership. She wants *you* to look extraordinary.

The experience goes like this:

Julia (or one of the other consultants — I like the term goddesses used in another review) chats with you, inquires about your lifestyle, your occupation, your leisure interests and your typical preferences in frames. Then, a tray is filled with frames from her vast selection (and I threw-in a few too.) Sitting across from one another with a mirror in between, you try on each: you giving Julia your opinion and Julia giving you hers. Be ready for honesty and be ready to find the spectacles that look perfect on you! Let me tell you, she knows facial structure, color pallets and style.

After narrowing the selection down to three, I went to large mirrors, went outside into the sun and then it happened: I found the best frames I have had in my life.

If you do not like input, do not come here. If you are on a tight budget putting two kids through college, do not come here. If you are used to express optical shops, do not come here.

I like to drop-by with my friends to browse new arrivals because it is just like going to an art gallery. One tip: if you’re really serious about finding what’s best for you try to go on an evening or weekday. The boutique is so interesting that it is sometimes crowded on weekends and you have to wait a little. (That’s when I just go to browse what’s new, even though I’m not in the market at the moment.)

Thanks Gogosha!

Jon P:

It’s a high-end boutique for glasses and sunglasses with or w/o prescription lenses run by a talented owner and intelligent employees. You’ll get advice and personal service in selecting frames that fit your face even if you don’t ask for it. While expensive, this is the kind of ideal shop you’d want to go to buy glasses that you’ll love and take care of for many, many years.

I like that I can go in anytime to get my sunglasses re-adjusted and tuned up.

Don’t listen to those who rate this place low just because it’s expensive. That’s not a fair review. But do be mindful that this is a high-end store with top quality service + products and the prices reflect that.

Jan S.:

I went to this shop on the advice of my daughter (I”m a senior, unhip white lady) and thought–what the heck? Anyway, i love this place. I ended up buying not one but two pairs of trifocals (who needs to choose from favorites anyway??) Neither are what I had in mind or what i would have expected, but I ALWAYS get compliments on them and am thrilled with both. I already had black frames and brown frames (neither of which are as cool as these, but anyway…), and added red and deep blue. it’s all about the accessories, you know.
they are a bit pricey, but you totally get what you pay for and you will never be sorry of the investment.
I have recommended this spot to friends, acquaintences and staff members, and they have all been delighted with the experience.
Way to go, Mary! You’re the best.

Sara W.:

Love my Sun spec’s. I get compliments on them all the time. Thank you.

You can’t skimp on your glasses and the shoes – so don’t. Love the store. Julia is fabulous. I will go there from here on out for my eyewear needs.

M.O:

let me start with this statement: i LOVE eyewear. as soon as i could afford cool glasses, out went my contacts, and in came frames as wearable artwork. it was always a challenge to find the right ones, as most places did not have the eye for what would work for my face, or the selection of frames to choose from.

that is, until i walked into gogosha and met julia and mary. they saw my double-framed theos, and started pulling dozens of funky glasses and sunglasses. it was like playtime: shapes and sizes which i would not have considered in the past were put on my face, and compared until i was down to 4 pairs… and that was last year. this year, i purchased even more, thanks to moneys saved for flex spending.

makeup? blech. jewelry? booooring. clothing? sure — why not. eyewear? YES. gogosha has the best frames, and the sweetest & most knowledgeable staff. you can’t beat that.

Joe S.:

i found the best glasses here! They have a very nice selection and top notch service. If you go here and are in the market for glasses, you will walk out with a new pair. This place is game changing. Their approach to personalization and customer satisfaction is brilliant.

I have been wearing glasses everyday for 18 years and during that time I have been on a crusade for a pair that make me feel awesome every time I put them on…With the help of Julia and her staff, I finally found them…

There are a lot of good stores with nice glasses. But, if you want greatness, impeccable taste, solid quality and style – there are no stores nor individuals that compare to Julia and the glasses paradise she has created, Gogosha Optique…They are quite simply the Bodhisattvas of spectacles.

Madeleine H:

There is just something wonderful about this place, about Julia and Mary. I think it’s the enthusiasm they have for really helping you to find what looks best, and also what fits best. I never knew that there is a way to fit glasses. I think most of us have become used to taking care of ourselves when we go to a store, even a specialist. Julia happily took out an assortment of glasses to determine what shape looked and fit the best. We narrowed it down until we found the most beautiful pair of glasses for me, ever! They’re sparkly red, but they don’t look over the top at all, with my fair skin and dark hair they look beautiful. The glasses are expensive, but since I’ll be wearing them on my face all the time it’s OK. I have a couple of cheapy glasses I keep next to the bed and the computer for when I’m in my bathrobe at home, but these new ones are going to be my look my best glasses. I cannot wait to pick them up. THANKS JULIA!

L. H.:

Julia knows what she is talking about! My prescription is awful, plus I was having a hard time finding new frames that fit my face.

I meet Julia, and she and I find several frames that were great within 10 minutes. I just picked up my glasses and the lens is also much thinner than my previous glasses.

This was the best experience I ever had buying glasses! She finds the right glasses for each individual.

Jonathan J.:

You can’t not afford to have the truest expression of yourself’

That’s what my wife and I got and continue to get out of purchasing our eyeglasses at Gogosha Optique. So frequently in today’s consumer ecosphere I find that retail businesses and their staff are ‘just’ showing up for work in the morning, and that’s it. In today’s economy where every dollar must be valued Gogosha knocks it out of the ballpark.

Why? My experience of buying eyeglasses until now has been the same experience I get from a retail clothing chain. You (the customer) show up, you’re given a limited collection of options (that all seem like a slightly different flavor than the next) and you must choose. You must choose because you’re running out of time. Life today is too fast, our attention span has become so limited we simply can’t afford to spend more than a few moments considering and then we’re purchasing the clothes, belts, shoes and eyeglasses that we wear each day.

Clothing style and design are intended to communicate something, not just look cool. One would think they could outfit themselves with a clear expression of their unique human qualities and personality. This is my understanding of style. Rather, most of us have become a social security number and driver’s license in a sardine can and that is our lives.

What Julia Gogosha has done is broken the mold. She’s taken a personal obsession and made it your unique self-expression. She’s traveled the world (while you’re waking up every day and dropping the kids at school and going to work, hitting the gym and doing it all over again) and found the most individual, unique, artistic and beautiful collection of eyeglasses one could be fortunate to find. Most of her eyeglass artists manufacture these frames by hand over a period of several months before they are ready to be shipped and end up on your face. These are true crafts-people who have made the art of eyeglass design a life’s profession and Julia Gogosha has found them and made their art available to you, the consumer.

When you walk in the store, Julia herself or her extremely talented sales associate Mary work with you personally for over 45 minutes to an hour choosing from a hand picked collection of 25 frames or so to try on. In the process of working with these women, you will find out exactly what the shape of your face is and how it integrates with the eyeglasses in question and they don’t stop until you find something you absolutely fall in love with.

You will pay a higher dollar for these frames but not much more than you would a run of the mill optical shop. The value per dollar you will get from your Gogosha purchase is so deep you can’t event quantify it.

I have never been so complimented by a pair of eyeglasses as I have from the ones I’ve purchased at Gogosha. My experience of catching myself in the mirror or seeing me in photos makes me feel sexy, handsome and fabulous.

Don’t pass go, don’t collect $200, don’t stop at Park Place or Boardwalk, proceed directly to Gogosha and don’t turn back.

Kitty M:

Yup, have to agree with everyone here – Julia has wonderful taste, stocks the best lines, and was able to fit me with the perfect frames in about 20 minutes. Her attention to detail is amazing, and her customer service is FANTASTIC. So many of the stores in L.A. carry wildly boring “designer” frame lines, I thought I would have to go back to Chicago or NYC to buy my next glasses. Happily not so.

D.C.:

Back again in the expert hands of the amazing Julia & Mary. I finally have my Oliver Goldsmith sunglasses and they are FAB-U-LOUS!

After you’ve experienced the extraordinary service, and Julia’s & Mary’s almost unnatural ability to find the perfect frame for your face and personality there is no going anywhere else. I’m already thinking about my next pair!

K.U:

Best eyewear store in LA, if not anywhere. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was ten, and have visited many an eyewear store as a result. This one is the best of them all.

Gogosha Optique does indeed carry some of the most beautiful and well-made frames around. But what really sets this store apart is the talent of Julia Gogosha to take a long hard look at your face, and then pick a handful of frames that will fit your face and personality to a “T”. Of course every customer is welcome to browse on their own and try what they like, but it seems almost inevitable that it’s going to be one of the frames Julia picked that will likely end up on your nose.

Once you made your selection, the service continues to be impeccable – frames get custom-fitted to your face, every step is executed with the utmost care and attention to detail. An owner-operated shop run by a master of her craft – what a nice throwback to pre-chain-store days.

That frames and service of this caliber don’t come at discount peddler’s prices goes without saying. But considering the “cost per wear” I’d say even the most expensive frame ends up being a lot cheaper than a decent pair of shoes or a nice jacket, and that’s without taking the fact into account that glasses quite literally shape the impression the world has about who you are, or the influence they have on how you feel – they’re framing your face every waking second of your life, after all.

Rick H.:

Once you stumble upon Gogosha you’ll never buy glasses anywhere else. The frames they carry are unbelievable and truly one of a kind. I went to a cool event that had wine tasting, local boutique designers and spa treatments at Body Bar Spa just up the street. “Frame your Face.” I ended up treating myself to a new pair of frames and at the same time have sent several friends there that are enjoying their new look. It’s a great place with great customer service. The problem, it’s hard to buy just one frame.

Bob B:

Pick the genius: me for finding Gogosha, or Julia, Mary and Jose for being so exceptionally gifted at what they do. Hmmm. I ‘m thinking it’s them, but you decide.

Frames (Orgreen) are awesome, exactly what I needed even though I couldn’t articulate it. I never ever would have picked them out of the case — but since Julia put them on the tray, I tried ‘em on and loved them.

Lenses were picked out by Mary — she advised me to step up into a pricier “digital” (?) lens. I have plenty of astigmatism, prisms (kinda like getting your headlights aligned…), general vision correction, all on top of a progressive lens, so I wanted to just stick with what I had. But I listened, and went with Mary’s advice — no hard sell, just the facts. The result of this new lens is just what Mary described: seriously clearer vision, distortion-free, and vastly improved reading, all without that weird nausea-inducing adjustment when you switch back to the regular vision part of the lens.

There are a bunch of really great eyewear shops in Los Angeles. But this is the one that looks at you first, and their frames second. When I tried on Julia’s selection of a dozen frames, every one fit and looked great. It was simple to narrow it down to 2 or 3 I liked best – and they happened to be (what are the odds?) Julia’s first picks. And the e-mailed photo allowed me see what they actually looked like on my face.

Nicely done, Gogosha. Ditto, Yelpers — you’re how I found them.

Joshua U.:

Hands down the best eyeglasses purchasing experience ever.

J L.:

Beautiful crafted eye wear, extensive product knowledge and personalized service is what I found at Gogosha…
Never wearing contact lenses again.
Thanks Julia .

Cynthia:

I had to let you know how much I love, love, love my glasses! I can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve gotten and my husband loves them…he says he can finally see my eyes. I have given your name and address to several of my friends who travel and want to put a visit to your shop on their schedule. So if you hear from a couple of Kansas gals, that’s who they are.

Thanks so much for your time and talent.

Austin:

I cannot say enough good things about Gogosha. The glasses that Julia and Mary helped me pick out are amazing, as are the sunglasses they found for me. I get compliments every day on them both. The store is a wonder to shop in. You will go in a potential customer and leave as a friend. I go in all the time whenever I’m in the neighborhood to say hi and check out the new selections.

If you are considering buying glasses do yourself a solid and head over to Gogosha. The staff are amazing, the glasses are fantastic, and the experience is everything shopping should be.
